The Weight of the Unseen

It explores the boundaries between what is physically present and what exists beyond the visible world.

A woman stands behind a set of scales. On one pan rests a dark, fluid shadow, seemingly extending beyond its physical form; on the other is a fragile living flower. The scales seem to be attempting to measure what cannot literally be measured — the weight of what we feel, remember, desire, or lose.

She remains calm and composed, as if this strange imbalance were entirely natural.

The work is a reflection on the material and intangible dimensions of our lives — on what shapes us, occupies our inner space, and remains with us over time.

The painting combines a figurative approach with expressive, fragmented layers of colour and texture, creating a space where the tangible and intangible coexist.
