Do Not Disturb!

It explores the strangely complicated art of having boundaries.

A woman covers her eyes and retreats into a private space of her own, while butterflies and other small creatures gather around her. Everything looks almost peaceful — except that someone, apparently, has once again forgotten what “Do Not Disturb” means.

The painting reflects on the quiet difficulty of protecting personal space in a world where attention, advice, questions, and expectations are often offered without invitation. Sometimes we do not need to explain ourselves, smooth things over, or find the perfect diplomatic answer.

There is a certain irony in having to make such a simple request so clearly. Perhaps “Do Not Disturb” should be considered a complete sentence.
