Protecting Herself

At the centre of the painting is a quiet merging of the tangible and the imagined — a moment when something we hold close, both physically and emotionally, begins to feel like an extension of our own body. What we choose to protect can carry meanings far beyond its physical presence: vulnerability, memory, and the desire to shelter something that feels too fragile to be exposed to the gaze.

There is no single narrative here. Instead, the painting lingers on the instinct to hold close something that cannot be explained — an attachment suspended between tenderness, protection, and belonging, without settling entirely into any one of them.
